The rice paper is grilled on charcoal until crunchy. Then, different ingredients such as quail eggs, scallions, pork rinds, and dried shrimp are added.

Bread shumai – Banh Mi Xiu Mai
Bánh Mì Xíu Mại (Bread shumai) is a delicious Da lat food for breakfast. From small alley street vendors to luxurious restaurants, you can easily spot this tasty dish.
The meatball is made from lean meat, finely ground, and shaped into small cubes. The dish is served with a pinch of cilantro and pork rind and served with Banh mi.
When eating, people often cut bread into small pieces, dipping in the cup of broth, adding a bit of satay to create spiciness.

Hoang Dieu street has many great Shumai shops. Our favorite is the one at 47 Hoang Dieu.
Each portion is about 12,000 VND, including shumai and bread. To add beef and cheese, you can choose the 30,000 VND portion.

Walking around the streets at night, enjoying corn or grilled sweet potatoes, will keep you warm and recharge after a long day of exploring.
We had them almost every night during our stay in Da Lat.
Corn and sweet potatoes are easy to find in Dalat, but the lakeside and night markets are the most popular areas. The price is only from 10,000 to 15,000 VND.

Da Lat dry fruits
Da Lat is famous for its dried fruits made from local fruits. We enjoyed the sweet buffet at L’angfarm, a trusted brand for Da Lat’s delicacy.
Here, we could sample several snacks from dried persimmon, dried sweet potatoes, dried bananas, dried jackfruit, dried taro, etc. We also had unlimited ice cream, complimentary tea, and coffee.

Nem nuong
Nem nướng (grilled pork) is a renowned name on the list of dishes that you must try in Dalat. What makes this dish special is the unique dipping sauce.
This dish uses the shoulder part of pork and then is grilled on charcoal. You can eat by rolling the Nem with rice paper and dip in the dipping sauce.
Although it seems simple, this special dish has a unique secret to charm its diners.

Grilled chicken with bamboo cooked rice
Gà nướng cơm lam (grilled chicken with rice) is one of our favorite dishes in Da Lat.
The chicken is well-marinated, juicy, and has crispy skin. The dish is even better with bamboo-cooked rice and sesame salt.

We enjoyed dining at Cá Nướng Cơm Lam. Address: 142 Phan Đình Phùng
The price is lower than the other places, and their chicken tastes delicious. A big-size grilled chicken is enough for 3 to 4 people.
We haven’t tried their grilled fish yet but heard it’s excellent as well.

Beef noodles
Don’t forget to try one at Phu Gia noodle shop if you love beef noodles.
Phu Gia noodles are very special. It’s freshly-made and quite similar to Japanese ramen but soft and suitable for Vietnamese tastes.
The broth is the most outstanding feature. It’s cooked with traditional remedies such as anise flavor and jujube, which are nutritious and beneficial to digestion.
The shop opens from 3 pm on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Sunday, and only 80 bowls are sold daily. So come before 4:30 pm!

“Căn” Cake (Bánh Căn)
Can cake is made from glutinous rice flour, added quail eggs or duck egg, and then scorched baked in a clay mold.
The smell of burnt crackers in the mold and taste of this snack is mouth-watering.

After taking Da Lat cable car, we had an enjoyable time at Leguda hotpot buffet restaurant.
The restaurant is located on the top of Robin hill to see the panoramic view of Dalat city on one side and the other side covering the pine hill of Prenn pass.
Leguda is known as a vegetable paradise, with many unique vegetables of Dalat. The price is also reasonable, and all food is fresh and worth a try.
