Day 1 – Hanoi to Vu Linh and Thac Ba Lake
Estimated distance: Approximately 180 km | Riding time: Approximately 5–7 hours
Leave Hanoi and ride north through farming areas and smaller towns. The roads gradually become quieter as you approach the Red River region and the broad waterways around Thac Ba Lake.
Stop for lunch and regular breaks along the way. Continue to the Vu Linh area and settle in near the lake for the first night. The accommodation and any lakeside activity will be confirmed before departure.
Day 2 – Vu Linh to Na Khan via the Tan Trao Area
Estimated distance: Approximately 130 km | Riding time: Approximately 4–6 hours
Leave Thac Ba Lake and follow rural roads through valleys, fields and small settlements. The route may pass through the Tan Trao area before continuing toward Na Khan, depending on the final roads selected.
Take a lunch break and stop at historical sites only if they are open and fit the day’s timing. Arrive in the Na Khan area and settle in for the night. Rew Rew will confirm the exact overnight location.
Day 3 – Na Khan to Ba Be Lake

Ride toward Ba Be through hills and forested landscapes. Allow time for slower sections and stops as the roads approach the national park area.
Arrive near Ba Be Lake and enjoy the remainder of the day at a relaxed pace. A boat trip may be possible if arrival time, weather and local services allow; Rew Rew will confirm whether it is included. Overnight in the Ba Be area.
Day 4 – Ba Be Lake to Cao Bang
Estimated distance: Approximately 130 km | Riding time: Approximately 4–6 hours
Leave the lake area and continue through mountain roads toward Cao Bang. The route passes valleys and smaller communities, with changing road surfaces that may affect the day’s pace.
Break for lunch and stop where it is safe and appropriate. Continue to Cao Bang with time to rest before the following day’s journey to Ban Gioc. Overnight in the Cao Bang area.
Day 5 – Cao Bang to Ban Gioc Waterfall and Quang Uyen

Ride from Cao Bang toward the border landscape around Ban Gioc Waterfall. The road moves through cultivated valleys and limestone hills before reaching the waterfall area.
Visit Ban Gioc if site access and weather permit, then continue toward Quang Uyen rather than returning to Cao Bang city. Allow time for the outward ride, visit and onward journey. Overnight in the Quang Uyen area.
Day 6 – Quang Uyen to Lang Son via Dong Khe
Estimated distance: Approximately 140 km | Riding time: Approximately 4–6 hours
Continue south through the Cao Bang hills toward Dong Khe and Lang Son. This section follows roads associated with the history of the northern border region, with mountain scenery along the way.
Stop for lunch and discuss any historical visit with your guide according to access and timing. Arrive in Lang Son later in the day. You can explore the town independently after checking in.
Day 7 – Lang Son to Hanoi
Estimated distance: Approximately 160 km | Riding time: Approximately 4–6 hours
Leave Lang Son for the final ride back to Hanoi. Smaller roads and towns give way to busier traffic as you approach the capital, so the guide will plan breaks and a suitable arrival route.
If the group prefers, spend a little time in Lang Son before departure, subject to the agreed schedule. Return to the confirmed drop-off point in Hanoi, allowing extra time before any onward flight or train.

Ride Your Own Motorbike
Experienced riders can request a guided self-ride arrangement. Rew Rew will confirm the available bike, required documents, group arrangements and price before accepting the booking.
Self-ride is intended for experienced motorbike riders. You need a valid licence for the motorcycle you will use and driving documents recognised in Vietnam, including an International Driving Permit where applicable. Rew Rew must check your documents before confirming the booking. The bike model and any related costs will be stated in your quotation.

No. This seven-day route goes through Thac Ba, Ba Be, Cao Bang, Ban Gioc and Lang Son. Ask Rew Rew for a separate Ha Giang itinerary if that is your priority.
Do I need motorbike experience?
You need experience to operate your own motorbike. If an Easy Rider passenger option is available, you can travel behind a local guide without driving experience.
