Day 1 – Hanoi to Mai Chau

Leave Hanoi and ride west as the capital’s busy roads give way to farmland and the hills of Hoa Binh. Take regular breaks before the final approach into Mai Chau Valley.

Arrive in Mai Chau and settle in for the first night. If time permits, explore the local area on foot after the ride. Rew Rew will confirm the accommodation and evening arrangements before departure.

Day 2 – Mai Chau to Phu Yen

Ride north through higher terrain toward the Moc Chau region, then continue in the direction of Phu Yen. The day brings cultivated valleys, winding roads and changing views along the mountain route.

Stop for lunch and short breaks where it is safe to pull over. Arrive in Phu Yen later in the day and rest before the longer ride toward Than Uyen. Overnight in Phu Yen.

Day 3 – Phu Yen to Than Uyen

Start early for a substantial mountain ride across the northwest. Depending on the selected roads, the route may pass through the Mu Cang Chai area, where terraced fields change appearance with the farming season.

Day 4 – Than Uyen to Sapa

Ride toward the Hoang Lien mountain range and climb through the O Quy Ho Pass area. Mountain views depend on visibility, and mist or rain may require a slower pace.

Continue to Sapa and check in. If the group arrives with enough time, discuss a short local ride or enjoy a free afternoon in town. Overnight in Sapa.

Day 5 – Sapa to Bac Ha

Leave Sapa and ride toward Bac Ha through valleys, farming areas and smaller mountain roads. The landscape changes as you descend from the higher elevations around Sapa.

Spend time exploring Bac Ha after arrival. Its main market takes place on Sunday, so a market visit depends on the departure date and local operating conditions. Overnight in Bac Ha.

Day 6 – Bac Ha to Ha Giang

Travel east toward Ha Giang through rugged mountain country. The route may pass through the Xin Man and Hoang Su Phi areas if the selected roads and current conditions allow.

Day 7 – Ha Giang to Dong Van

Ride north through Quan Ba and Yen Minh as green valleys give way to the limestone formations of the Dong Van Karst Plateau. Frequent bends and changes in elevation make this a day for steady riding.

Pause at accessible viewpoints when visibility permits. If open and included in the confirmed itinerary, visit the Vuong family residence before arriving in Dong Van. Overnight in Dong Van.

Day 8 – Dong Van to Bao Lac via Meo Vac

Leave Dong Van and ride through the Ma Pi Leng area toward Meo Vac. The route follows steep limestone slopes and deep valleys, so the guide will set a careful pace.

Stop at safe viewpoints when conditions permit, then break for lunch around Meo Vac. Continue on mountain roads toward Bao Lac and settle in for the evening. Overnight in Bao Lac.

Day 9 – Bao Lac to Ba Be Lake

Follow roads from Bao Lac toward the forested hills around Ba Be. Surfaces and travel times can vary, so the guide will select a suitable route and allow time for rest stops.

Day 10 – Ba Be Lake to Hanoi

Leave early for the final ride to Hanoi. The journey passes through hills and smaller towns before the roads become busier near the capital, with regular breaks during this longer day.

Stop for lunch along the route and continue to the agreed Hanoi drop-off point. Arrival time depends on the selected roads, traffic and weather, so allow enough time before any onward connection.

Ride Your Own Motorbike

Self-ride is intended for experienced motorbike riders. You need a valid licence for the motorcycle you will use and driving documents recognised in Vietnam, including an International Driving Permit where applicable.
