14-Day Saigon to Hanoi Easy Rider Motorbike Tour

Day 1 – Ho Chi Minh City to Dong Xoai
Approximately 140 km | 4–5 hours of riding, plus stops

Leave the busy streets of Ho Chi Minh City and ride towards the peaceful countryside of Binh Phuoc Province. As the traffic fades, the landscape opens into rubber plantations, farmland and small villages.

Stop for local coffee, countryside views and an introduction to rural life in southern Vietnam before arriving in Dong Xoai for the night.

Day 2 – Dong Xoai to Dak Mil
Approximately 190 km | 5–6 hours of riding, plus stops

Ride north into the Central Highlands through cashew, pepper, rubber and coffee plantations. The roads become quieter and the air cooler as you gain elevation.

Visit farming areas, roadside villages and local markets when available. Enjoy regular coffee, lunch and photo stops before settling in at Dak Mil.

Day 3 – Dak Mil to Lak Lake
Approximately 170 km | 4–5 hours of riding, plus stops

Continue through one of Vietnam’s major coffee-growing regions, following scenic countryside roads between plantations and small highland communities.

Stop at local farms and workshops along the way before arriving at Lak Lake. Explore the peaceful lakeside area and nearby villages, then stay near the lake for the night.

Day 4 – Lak Lake to Pleiku
Approximately 210 km | 5–6 hours of riding, plus stops

Leave Lak Lake and travel north through the coffee-growing landscapes of Dak Lak and Gia Lai. Pass open plateaus, farmland and rural towns along the way.

Stop for local food, seasonal produce and countryside views. Arrive in Pleiku in the late afternoon and relax after the longer riding day.

Day 5 – Pleiku to Kon Tum
Approximately 130 km | 3–4 hours of riding, plus stops

Begin with a relaxed ride through the volcanic countryside around Pleiku. Visit T’Nung Lake and explore the Chu Dang Ya area when weather and road conditions allow.

Continue to Kon Tum to see its wooden church, traditional villages and distinctive Rong communal houses. Settle in at Kon Tum for the night.

Day 6 – Kon Tum to Kham Duc
Approximately 180 km | 5–6 hours of riding, plus stops

Leave Kon Tum and follow mountain roads through the northern Central Highlands. Ride along scenic sections of the historic Ho Chi Minh Road, surrounded by forests, rivers and remote valleys.

Stop at mountain viewpoints, suspension bridges and highland villages along the way. Arrive in the small mountain town of Kham Duc for the night.

Day 7 – Kham Duc to Hoi An
Approximately 150 km | 4–5 hours of riding, plus stops

Ride through the forests and mountains of western Quang Nam before descending towards the coastal plains. Watch the scenery change from remote highlands to rice fields and farming villages.

Visit a local market, stop for coffee and enjoy a refreshing break at a waterfall when conditions allow. Arrive in Hoi An by late afternoon.

Day 8 – Hoi An to Hue via Hai Van Pass
Approximately 150 km | 4–5 hours of riding, plus stops

Leave Hoi An and follow the coastal road through Da Nang before climbing the famous Hai Van Pass. Enjoy winding mountain roads and panoramic views over the coastline.

Stop at Hai Van Pass viewpoints and Lang Co Bay, then ride through fishing villages and lagoon landscapes before arriving in Hue.

Day 9 – Hue to Khe Sanh via the Former DMZ
Approximately 220 km | 6 hours of riding, plus visits

Travel north from Hue into Quang Tri Province and explore important sites connected with the former Demilitarized Zone. Visit Hien Luong Bridge and the Ben Hai River, which once divided North and South Vietnam.

Depending on time and opening conditions, continue to Vinh Moc Tunnels and other historical sites before riding west through the mountains to Khe Sanh.

Day 10 – Khe Sanh to Phong Nha
Approximately 230 km | 6–7 hours of riding, plus stops

Leave Khe Sanh early and follow a remote section of the Ho Chi Minh Road towards Phong Nha. This rewarding route passes through forested mountains, river valleys and areas associated with the historic Ho Chi Minh Trail.

Stop in the Dak Rong area and at safe viewpoints along the way. Arrive in the Phong Nha–Ke Bang region in the late afternoon.

Day 11 – Phong Nha to Nghe An
Approximately 260 km | 7 hours of riding, plus stops

Continue north through the rural landscapes of Quang Binh, Ha Tinh and Nghe An. Ride along quieter sections of the Ho Chi Minh Road, surrounded by forests, farmland and small communities.

Take regular breaks for local coffee, lunch and countryside views. Arrive at the selected overnight town in Nghe An in the late afternoon.

Day 12 – Nghe An to Thanh Hoa
Approximately 190 km | 5 hours of riding, plus stops

Ride through the countryside of north-central Vietnam, where rice fields, farming villages and local trading towns shape the landscape.

Stop at a local market or regional food stall when available, with time for coffee and photography along the way. Continue to Thanh Hoa for the night.

Day 13 – Thanh Hoa to Ninh Binh
Approximately 130 km | 3–4 hours of riding, plus visits

Leave Thanh Hoa and continue north towards the dramatic limestone landscapes of Ninh Binh. The shorter riding day allows more time to explore the area.

Depending on arrival time, take a boat trip at Trang An or Tam Coc, visit Bich Dong Pagoda or ride through the surrounding rice fields and villages. Stay overnight in the Ninh Binh area.

Day 14 – Ninh Binh to Hanoi
Approximately 110 km | 3–4 hours of riding, plus stops

Enjoy the final ride through the countryside of the Red River Delta. Pass rice fields, rivers and busy local towns as the route gradually approaches Vietnam’s capital.

Stop for a final local coffee or lunch with your guide before arriving at your hotel in central Hanoi, marking the end of your 14-day journey across Vietnam.

Easy Rider – Ride Behind a Local Guide

Travel as a passenger while a local guide drives the motorbike. You can enjoy the scenery without needing to ride yourself. This is the travel style described on the current tour page.

Self-Ride Motorbike Option

Experienced riders can ask to follow the guide on their own motorbike for the four-day route. The motorcycle model, availability, price, fuel, luggage arrangements, required riding documents and insurance conditions must be agreed before booking.

Private Car Option

Do I need motorbike experience for this tour?

No riding experience is required if you choose the Easy Rider passenger option. Self-riders must have suitable big-tour experience, valid documents and Rew Rew’s approval before the booking is confirmed.

Is this a private tour or a group departure?

The tour can be arranged as a private or small-group journey, subject to guide and motorbike availability. The confirmed group format and maximum number of guests are [Rew Rew to confirm].

What type of motorbike will be used?

The motorbike depends on the passenger or self-ride option, rider experience, availability and road conditions. Rew Rew will confirm the motorcycle model, engine size, luggage setup and any price difference before payment.

Can I self-ride with my licence from home?

A domestic licence alone may not be sufficient. You must have the correct motorcycle entitlement and an International Driving Permit recognised in Vietnam, including the applicable 1968 Convention requirements; Rew Rew must check the documents before approving a self-ride booking.

How difficult is the journey?

This is a demanding multi-day tour with several stages of five to seven hours of riding, plus stops. Guests should be comfortable spending consecutive days on a motorbike and should tell Rew Rew about medical, mobility or dietary needs before booking.

What happens if the weather or road conditions change?

Safety comes first. The guide may change the road, departure time, sightseeing stops or overnight location because of heavy rain, flooding, landslides, roadworks or other local conditions.

Are meals and entrance fees included?

The final package has not yet been confirmed. Rew Rew will provide a written inclusion list showing accommodation, meals, entrance tickets and optional activities before the guest pays.

Can Rew Rew customise the route?

Yes, the pace, accommodation category, rest days, support vehicle and selected attractions can be discussed before confirmation. Any change may affect the total distance, duration and price.
